i was told that iris would die off because she isn i was told that iris would die off because she isn’t beginner friendly and that made me realize i never go the easy route when it comes to picking up new hobbies and skills.

when i decided i wanted to be a plant mom i did research on plants and fell in love with the lemon lime prayer plant and started researching everything i could about this plant before picking it up.

despite what was recommended i just couldn’t move myself to buy a “beginner friendly” plant i wasn’t in love with. because beginner friendly can become unfriendly quick when you start neglecting it because you don’t feel called to nurture the plant.

so i know iris can be sensitive but i’ve taken some steps to help her thrive in her new environment. to keep her happy i’ve had my humidifier on constantly to provide adequate humidity and started collecting rain water and reusing my distilled water jugs to store the rain water to water her when needed. (since she’s sensitive to the chemicals in tap)

i’m new to this but i am working on strengthening my intuition when it comes to her care by observing her daily and taking notice on any changes i see. iris seems to be doing well so far and even unravel a few new leaves since i brought her home so i’ll continue to keep my eye on her since this plant is known to cause many plant parent’s problems.
i’ve been absent but still creating with intent i’ve been absent but still creating with intent behind the scenes. lately i’ve started my spring garden, adopted my first house plant (their name is Iris), and redecorate my creative space.

social media is an amazing place to share and connect when used with intention but i’m very grateful for the solitude i decided to take. it’s helped me to connect deeper with myself.

now that i’ve spent time away from this fast past environment to ground myself and slow down i think it’s time that i share a piece of my world with you again. so i hoped you missed me because i’m back …for now ☀️🌱
as creatives we often push ourselves through seaso as creatives we often push ourselves through seasons of rest, labeling it as laziness or uninspiring.

but you’re not lazy, your tired. it’s crucial to allow your mind, body, and soul to rest and recharge. you cannot be at your peak forever.

stillness grants you the opportunity to check in with yourself on all that you accomplished during your peak. it allows you to rest within and ask yourself questions on how you want to move forward.

stillness is apart of growth so don’t push through it but embrace it.
stillness… neutrality, calm, and stillness is w stillness…

neutrality, calm, and stillness is what we experience before our minds tell us that this feeling is boredom.

instead of sitting with this neutral feeling or creating through the stillness, we escape from it. we are so addicted to feeling big emotions and that dopamine hit, we forget the power of boredom.

stillness brings self awareness, clarity of mind, increased creativity and intuition.

when you sit with yourself instead of escaping from yourself, you unlock your full power.
my art contradicts my process. my art consists o my art contradicts my process.

my art consists of clean straight lines, forms, and colors while my process is messy and chaotic. i get paint everywhere even when trying to careful.

my paint brushes are worn but they tell a story of all my past work. my paint is laid out all over the place but if you asked for the cobalt blue i’d know just where to look.

i think that in itself is a work of art.
when i say i am my own muse i mean it in every way when i say i am my own muse i mean it in every way possible.

not only do i grab inspiration from my thoughts, experiences, and identity but i also use myself as the model for my art to easily map out poses and features.

despite me being the reference for my art, i still change up my figures to have their own characteristics and features other than my own so i won’t have a repetitive character in each painting.

i thought this would be a fun idea to use this sound over my work verses the reference. 🤣
